- God is God.
- God is (6,8). Five thoughts to explain this.
- God is God. He is, always is - unchanging deity.
- He is good (infinitely so); and thus He is the object of His own focus (seeks Himself and rightly so), desires and purposes
- He is sovereign, determining and governing (controlling) all outside of Himself.
- Forbidden idolatry.
- Idolatry is to conceive of God other than as He has revealed Himself in His Word.
- The big idol is always self (II Tim. 3:1,2) - very self-centered, our perceived needs and wants and rights and happiness.
- Idolatry is when we trust anyone or anything other than God: our money, family, etc.
- Other violations of the first commandment.
- God requires right worship from all His creatures of His most glorious Being for Who He is and for all He has done.
- As a “living soul” (Gen. 2:7) all mankind is able to have a relationship with God, whether positive or negative.
- Right worship means right knowledge of Him, derived from what He reveals of Himself to us.
- Right worship is to love, fear, and glorify Him with my whole heart.
- Right worship means that I am constantly striving to do only what He commands.
- Right worship means that I trust in Him alone.
- Right worship means that I submit to Him and His decretive will with all humility and patience.
- Right worship is to expect all good things from Him only, for no one and nothing else can give good things.
- We receive great blessing in the way of obedience.
