Text: Revelation 14:4
Psalters: 50, 152, 30, 174
  1. To follow the Lamb is to love sacrificially.
    1. He loved those given to Him more than Himself, even to death.
    2. Our obedience to the call to love is evidence that we are following the Lamb(I John 4:8,12; 5:2).
  2. To follow the Lamb is to be humbly obedient.
    1. To follow the Lamb means to be humble.
      1. He was ?meek and lowly in heart? and told His followers to ?learn of Me? (Matt. 11:28).
      2. ?Let this mind be in you? (Phil. 2:5).
    2. The Lamb was silently obedient (Phil. 2:8) consciously following only to His Father?s will.
    3. To follow the Lamb is to serve, for humble obedience evidences itself in service (Matt. 20:28; John 13).
  3. To follow the Lamb is to endure (be patient).
    1. The Lamb denied Himself (Phil. 2:6), for He suffered willingly.
      1. He lived seeking to do the will of Him that sent Him (Luke 2:49; John 6:38; Mark 14:35,36).
      2. The Lamb ?pleased not Himself,? so ought we to do as He did (Rom. 15:2,3)
    2. The Lamb ?bore,? ?endured? many things.
      1. So we are to ?endure? hardness, patiently suffering tribulation (Rom. 12:7,12; I Peter 2:19,20; II Tim. 4:5; Heb. 12:7; II Tim. 2:10; James 5:11).
      2. Suffering occasions enduring, causes our souls to cling to God more, and enables us to be sympathetic.
  4. To follow the Lamb is to go to glory and the victor?s crown. (Rev. 14:1-4).
    1. It was through the way of suffering that God led Jesus to high exaltation (Phil. 2:9-11).
    2. It is in the way of humility, sacrificial self-denial, and humble obedience that God glorifies us.
